She was born on June 9, 1929, in Alto, Texas, a daughter of the late John Edward and Ola Mae Spears.
She leaves here to cherish her memory four daughters: Carolyn, Jeannie, Nancy, and Laurie; five grandchildren: Jennifer, Heather, Keley, Savannah and April; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers: Don, Gary, and Kenneth Spears; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at 3 p.m., at the Talge Hall Chapel on the campus of Southern Adventist University where she was assistant dean of women for three years and an associate professor of office administration for 22 years.
The family will receive friends two hours prior to the memorial service at Talge Hall Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in her memory to either Hospice of Chattanooga or McKamey Animal Shelter.
