She was born on May 17, 1923, in Wheeling, W.Va.
She was a member of First Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of the late Lee Phillis and Marietta Phillis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John V. Torchick; sister, Betty Vermillion; brothers-in-law: Claude Vermillion and Dick Robbins; and two brothers: Charles and Ray Phillis.
She is survived by her son, John Leslie Torchick and wife, Nancy, of Cleveland; grandchildren: John Raymond Torchick and wife, Wendy and Leslie Casteel and husband, Randy, all of Cleveland; great-grandchildren: Ryan Casteel and wife, Bethany, Cooper and Brody Casteel and Noah, Audrey and Anna Torchick, all of Cleveland; sister, Dawn Robbins of Kansas City, Mo.; nephew, Dean L. Stephens and wife, Ruth, and their sons: Liam, Torin and Holden of Kansas City, Mo.; niece, Sharon Crawford and husband, Larry, of Boynton Beach, Fla.; their son, Darin Crawford and family of Columbus, Ohio; their daughter, Sherri and husband, Sean, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; special family members, Brad and Martha Stuman of Cleveland.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. today, Aug. 17, 2012, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Rusty Asble officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home prior to the service.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Generations Building Fund, First Baptist Church, 1275 Stuart Road N.E., Cleveland TN 37323.
