KAB announces poster competition winners; record from cleanup

TWO LOCAL STUDENTS won first and second place in the Keep America Beautiful poster contest this year. Both students are in Chris Reid’s class at Stuart Elementary.

Students were able to select one of three topics for the poster — recycling, litter or energy.

KAB also has been helping clean up the environment by working on a clean-up project on Mouse Creek Stream next to the Greenway between Raider Drive and Willow Street on April 28.

In all, 44 volunteers gave their time, energy and support to cleaning up the following items: 22 bags of trash, eight tires, one hubcap, one wicker chair, one street sign pole, one plastic tray, one fan cover, one paint bucket, one bucket, three metal pipes, one dishwasher rack, three cinderblocks, one wood pallet, one chain link fence, one mini sewing machine and four bricks.
