He was born in Chicago on March 23, 1964, a son of J.L. Akins.
He was of the Baptist faith and had made Cleveland his home for more than 42 years.
He has worked locally both at Dana Corporation and also Peyton’s. He loved music, enjoyed playing the guitar and had a huge heart that he enjoyed sharing with anyone around him.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Lindsey Dawn Akins; and grandparents: J.R. and Ree Akins, and Charles Wade Moss and Irene Moss Ogle.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 13 years, Deborah N. Carter Akins; his mother, Charlotte Ann Moss Akins; three daughters: Drew Akins, Kala Akins and Autumn Akins; one stepdaughter, Brandy Payne; one stepson, Scott Carter (Amanda); one granddaughter Haley; four grandsons: Aiden, Roman, Brandon and Jackson; one brother, Ronald Akins; and numerous other extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends today May 22, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the parlor of Companion Funeral & Cremation Service, 2415 Georgetown Road in Cleveland.
A graveside service will take place to celebrate his life on Thursday, May 23, 2013, at noon at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Rickey Vaughn officiating.
Pallbearers will be David Lyles, Patrick McCurry, Byron Minor, Brandon Trenham, Scott Carter and Phillip Nunley.
