Kevin Spencer will be in concert Sunday morning at Washington Avenue Baptist Church.

The Southern Gospel music artist will be singing in the 11 a.m. service.

Spencer was singing with his family — The Spencers — when he was just 3. In 1992, he began his own group — Kevin Spencer and Friends. He is now featured as a soloist.

His latest CD is a tribute to his favorite gospel singer, the late Rusty Goodman. Each of his concerts includes a special tribute to Goodman. Among the songs are favorites from his Remembering Rusty project. These songs include “Who Am I,” “Leavin’ On My Mind,” “Look for Me,” and “I Wouldn’t Take Nothing for my Journey now.”

Spencer is a born-again Christian who believes in liviing what he sings.

Among Spencer’s more well-know songs are “The Blood is Still There,” “If the Rapture Was Yesterday,” “So Much to Thank Him For,” “Flow Through Me Holy Spirit” and “God Bless America Again.”

Washington Avenue Baptist is located at 1720 Perry St., off Spring Place Road.
