The Cleveland Knights of Columbus, Council No. 4572 is holding its Annual Super Bowl Barbecue Butt Roast the last week of January, and orders can be picked up Jan. 30 through Feb. 2, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Approximately 5,000 pounds of choice pork butt will be prepared for the barbecue this year. The pork butts are dry rubbed in a special mixture of ingredients that gives the pork barbecue a very unique and tasty flavor. The butts are then roasted under the guidance and direction of master roaster Chuck Nelson.

The butts are cooked in the new roasting oven which can cook approximately 72 butts at a time in 8 hours, allowing natural wood smoke enhancement and flavor development. After roasting, the butts are deboned, cooled, weighed and wrapped in aluminum foil, then refrigerated until picked up. The butts can also be frozen and used later if desired.

Orders for the Barbecue Butts can be made by calling the St. Therese Church office at 476-8123, or by picking up an order form at the church, located at 900 Clinging Ridge Drive, N.W. You may also place an order by contacting a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Orders must be placed by Jan. 28 so all requests can be filled. Pre-paying will guarantee your order. All other orders will be filled on a first-come first- serve basis.

A Special K of C barbecue sauce will be available in a limited amount.

A whole barbecue pork butt of 4 1/2 to 5 pounds sells for $22 and larger ones sell for $30.

All proceeds from this barbecue butt roast sale will be donated to charities in the local community, state and nationally.

The Knights of Columbus is a nonprofit organization and a Catholic men's fraternal organization devoted to the four core concepts of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism.
