The Cleveland Knights of Columbus, Council No. 4572 will be offering its Annual Labor Day Barbecue Butt Roast Sale the last week of August.

The orders will be ready for pick up on Aug. 29.

Approximately 3,000 pounds of choice pork butt will be prepared for the barbecue this year.

The butts are dry rubbed in a special mixture of ingredients that gives the pork barbecue a very unique and tasty flavor.

The butts are roasted to perfection under the guidance and direction of K of C’s master roaster, Chuck Nelson.

The butts will be cooked in a new roasting oven, which can cook approximately 80 butts at a time in 24 hours, allowing natural wood smoke enhancement and flavor development. After roasting, the butts are deboned, cooled, weighed and wrapped inaluminum foil, then refrigerated until picked up.

The butts can also be frozen and used later, if desired.

Orders for the barbecue butts can be made by calling the St. Therese Church office (423-476-8123), or by picking up an order form at the church, located at 900 Clinging Ridge Drive, N.W., You may also place an order by contacting a member of the Knights. Orders will be ready starting Aug. 29, from noon to 6 p.m., through Sept. 1, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Pre-paying will guarantee your order. All other orders will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

A whole barbecue pork butt of 4-1/2 to 5 pounds sells for $22 and a pulled pork butt of 3-1/2 to 4 pounds sells for $30.

The Knights of Columbus use 100 percent of the proceeds from this barbecue butt roast sale for charities in the local community, state and nation.

The K of C is a Catholic men's fraternal organization and devoted to the four core concepts of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism.
