The OMS girls started the run with a 32-28 win over Cleveland Middle followed by a 42-37 victory over Meigs County. The Lady Colts closed out the three-game sweep with a 38-17 win over Boyd-Buchanan.
OMS came from behind against CMS to take a 16-8 lead at halftime, and held on to a 24-17 advantage after three quarters before closing out the win.
Lauren Lay and Lindsey Wyatt led the Lady Colts with 10 points apiece. Haley Jones added six, Macey Clark scored four and Abbey Davis tossed in two.
“This is always a great rivalry game. We played hard defense and great team ball,” said OMS coach Joe Spencer.
Meigs broke a 10-10 first quarter tie with the Lady Colts and led 23-22 at halftime. OMS rallied back in the third to take a 34-29 lead and held Meigs County at arms’ length to win 42-37.
Lay and Wyatt again led the way with 13 and 12 points respectively, with Davis adding nine to the total.
“We have played Meigs on three occasions this year and to come away with three victories over a great team is a great accomplishment. All the games have been close, with us winning in the last quarter,” said Spencer.
On Eighth-Grade Recognition Night, the Lady Colts picked up a big win over Boyd-Buchanan.
Carly Buckner paced the OMS ladies with 14 points followed by Lay with 10 and Jones with four.
“We have had a great season which ended with a big victory,” Spencer stated.
