Cleveland Christian School Lady Crusaders hosted a tri-match Tuesday evening with fellow Southern Christian Athletic Association member schools Apostolic Knoxville and Knoxville Christian.

In the opening match against Apostolic, the Lady Crusaders got off to a slow start and had very little offense or defense, eventually losing 25-8 and 25-19. Acacia Thompson had one block and one kill.

After Apostolic Christian beat Knoxville Christian in match two on the evening, by a score of 2-1, the Lady Crusaders followed suit to pick up the win over Knoxville 25-12, 25-18 in match three.

Hope Nix had three assists, Emily Sexton had two aces, and Acacia Thompson had three kills.

“It was a strange evening to say the least,” coach Mathis remarked after match three of the tri-match. “We didn’t even show up in match one, but turned it on to pull off the split in match three. You learn from mistakes early and move on. We’ve got a young squad that needs a lot of game time to improve.”

Cleveland Christian, 3-2 (3-2 in SCAA) will look to improve Thursday as the team travels to Calhoun, Ga., to take on Georgia-Cumberland Academy.
