Baleigh Ellis put the Lady Raiders on top in the first half, on an assist by her sister Hannah Ellis, with the night’s first goal to give Cleveland a 1-0 lead.
“Baleigh came up big for us again right before halftime and slid one by the Ooltewah keeper,” said Lady Raiders coach Andy Byrd.
Kaitlyn Poulakis dropped in a bomb from 30 yards out that sailed by the Ooltewah goalkeeper and sealed the win at about the 25th minute of the second half.
“It was a pretty nice game. Ooltewah is very, very disciplined in applying the low-pressure defensive style of soccer. Rick (Adolph, Ooltewah head coach) did a very nice job of orchestrating that. However, we did have a couple of opportunities and took advantage of them,” said Byrd.
The Lady Raiders host the Lady Mustangs of Walker Valley Thursday at the Soccer Complex on Mouse Creek. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
“We plan to celebrate Cleveland Middle School Night with a Blue Out,” said Byrd. “We are going to have a huge tailgate before the game.”
