He was born in Etowah on May 26, 1949, to the late Alfred Vaughn and Jewel Massengill Vaughn.
He owned and operated Larry Vaughn Plumbing, Electric, and Heating and Air until his health forced his retirement.
He was a pilot, enjoyed playing guitar, flying radio-controlled aircraft, and was a past president of Cleveland AMA Radio Controlled Club. His greatest love was for his grand babies.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; two sons: Eddie and Wayne Vaughn; and a sister, Gail Dixon.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Dianne Vaughn of Cleveland; two sons: James (Linda) Watson of Dalton, Ga., and Chad (Melanie) Watson of Cedartown, Ga.; three daughters: Sherry Kennedy and Tammy Arp, both of Cleveland and Bridgett Miller of Decatur; four brothers: David Vaughn of Cleveland, Terry Vaughn of Etowah, Steve Vaughn and Ronnie Vaughn, both of Cleveland; one sister, Kathy Vaughn of Etowah; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several other extended family members.
The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Clingan Ridge Baptist Church, 2412 Georgetown Road N.W., Cleveland TN 37311, with the Rev. Joe Cannon officiating.
Friends and family will assemble at 11 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2012, at the Good Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Etowah for the committal services.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in the memory of Larry be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 200 Central Ave., Chattanooga TN 37403.
