GREENEVILLE — The Lee University Lady Flames Golf team completed play Friday at the NAIA Women’s National Golf Championships, turning in a team score of 318 in the final round. The Lady Flames finish with a four-day score of 1,256 at the Link Hills Golf and Country Club, good for the 11th spot overall.

Courtney Shelton and Sloane Skinner turned in Lee’s top performances in Friday’s round, each shooting a 4-over-par 77. Geandra Almeida joins Shelton as the top performer for the Lady Flames overall, each totaling 310, good for a tie for 25th. Skinner climbs from tie for 67th, up to a tie for No.52, turning in a tournament total of 318.

Madison Alexander fell from back-to-back 79 performances, shooting 83 on day four to close tied for 66th (321). Kristin Bourg also fired an 83 to finish at 331(T-81st).

British Columbia (Canada) began the tournament at No.7 after day one, but stormed up to the top spot in day two and never looked back, taking the National Championship with a team score of 1,211 (43-over-par). SCAD-Savannah (Ga.) finished one stroke behind the leader on the final day (304) and finishes two strokes back overall.

Megan Woodland of Victoria (Canada) takes the individual medalist honors, firing an even-par 73 to close the tournament even at 292. Anna Arrese Cortadellas of Oklahoma Christian also shot a 73 on the final day, finishing one-over-par overall, good for runner-up honors.

The Lady Flames finished tied for 10th in last year’s event, competing for just the second time as a team in 2012. Prior to the national tournament, the Lady Flames claimed eight straight tournament wins, including their first-ever Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Championship, back in mid-April.
