On Thursday, the Lee University Jazz Ensemble will present its spring concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Conn Center under the direction of Alan Wyatt.

The program will feature "Basie’s Buddy B” by John LaBarbera, “Riverscape” by Fred Sturm, “Turnaround” by Matt Harris, and “Shake Everything You Got” by Maceo Parker, among other compositions.

A frequent award winner at national festivals, the ensemble performs for campus, school, and civic events. Its students also have the opportunity to perform in combos under the supervision of tenor saxophonist Wyatt, a highly acclaimed soloist known for his imaginative improvisations.

Wyatt, an assistant professor of music at Lee, has shared the stage with several artists, including Frank Sinatra Jr., The Temptations, The Four Tops, Doc Severinsen, and Clay Aiken, among others. Prior to his appointment at Lee, Wyatt was the co-leader, along with his late wife Paula Archer-Wyatt, of a jazz quartet that performed throughout the greater southeastern United States.

The performance is free and open to the public.
