The Image Step Team is an entertainment-driven dance team with a “hip-hop for Christians” spin. The team was formed last semester when a group of students in UMOJA, Lee’s Black Student Association, wanted to reach the kids and schools in the Cleveland area in a unique way.
The group has succeeded in its mission, developing mentoring relationships with the Cleveland Middle School and Mayfield Elementary School dance teams. They build relationships and teach dance routines to younger students. This year, the middle and elementary schools’ teams will join in the Image performance.
The Saturday performance will also serve as the team’s fundraiser, which supplies team uniforms and provides funds for their service trips each semester. Last spring, the group spent a weekend in Atlanta working with the City of Refuge in their homeless ministry.
Tickets for the show are $4 in advance and $7 at the door. They will be available for purchase at the Dixon Center Box Office from noon to 2 p.m. the week before the show.
