KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The honors continue for Lee University junior J.B. Eksteen. After being named conference Men’s Golfer of the Week on Monday, Eksteen has been named NAIA Men’s Golfer of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday.

Eksteen, a native of Paarl, South Africa, took medalist honors in last week’s Lee University Spring Invitational, shooting 5-under par (67) in both rounds. His 134 total score was good for a nine-stroke victory and is the lowest score of any player under the direction of Coach John Maupin.

“I am very pleased that J.B. received National Player of the Week honors,” said Maupin. “He certainly made a strong enough case for it. This is the first time we have had a player receive this award, so that tells you what a special accomplishment it is.

“J.B. played great golf last week, but it definitely didn’t surprise me. He has great ability and combines it with a high level of maturity,” concluded Maupin. “I’m happy for him.”
