After Saturday’s match at UT-Chattanooga was postponed due to cold weather, Lee’s next match will be Tuesday as they travel to Alabama to face perennial NAIA powerhouse Auburn-Montgomery.
Tonya Walters began Friday’s Lady Flame victory with a 6-0, 6-2 win, while Jodie Rice followed with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph and Maclain Yowarsky put the finishing touches on the singles events with a 6-0 whitewash.
In doubles, Walters and Tara Garner combined for a 8-2 win. Yowarsky and Christy North and Jodie Rice and Kelsey Lovingood scored the final two doubles wins by 8-0, 8-0 scores.
In the men’s actions, Richard Gamble and teammate Vincent Audy put up a mighty struggle before falling in the No. 1 doubles 9-8 (7-5) before Bethel claimed the 5-0 victory. The event was shortened to only five matches because Bethel scheduled another match at Tennessee Wesleyan later on Friday.
Gamble and Audy managed to win three games in their singles defeat and that closed out the victory for the visitors.
In doubles play, Daniel Hardesty and Patrick Kim dropped their match 8-2, while Fabio Medina and Kevin Tan fell in the No. 3 doubles 8-0.
