Lee University junior shortstop Jennifer Ringle has been named Southern States Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year. Ringle is joined by three other Lady Flames on the All-Conference team. Ringle produced a .420 batting average in 2012 hitting out of the leadoff spot in her first season at Lee.
The speedy Ringle was named to the All-SSAC team with seniors Brittany Balough and Kelsey Barnes as well as sophomore Ana Coscorrosa. All four players earned their first all-conference nod for the Lady Flames, though Balough and Coscorrosa were named SSAC All-Division in 2011.
Balough is currently 24-2 in the circle with a 1.31 earned run average. Barnes leads the conference in doubles and runs batted in (tied with Coscorrosa) and Coscorrosa’s .445 batting average is good for second in the league to this point.
Juniors Savanna Bell and Charlie Wooden were named to the SSAC All-Division team with Dominique Hannah and Jessa Watts earning spots on the All-Freshmen squad.
Balough, Bell, Caitlin Beshears, Kelli Crawford, and Hannah Hight were each named the conference all-academic team. Hight was also named Lee’s representative on the Musco Lighting Champions of Character Team.
