Mannone has been nominated three times for the Pushcart. Recent work appears in Conclave, Magnapoets, The Medulla Review, Rose & Thorn Journal, Tipton Poetry Journal and Hinchas de Poesia. He is the poetry editor for Silver Blade, an adjunct professor of physics in east Tennessee and serves as a NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador.
The Family Violence Program will be displaying an exhibit at the library titled, “Healing Through Art” from April 15-21 in honor of Sexual Assault Month. Exhibits are done by survivors of sexual assault and/or survivors friends and family.
In addition to the exhibit, there will be a community meeting on April 19 at 7 p.m. to educate the public on the myths and facts surrounding this crime and proper ways to respond and help a survivor. Child care will be provided on this night as the meeting is not appropriate for young children.
There will be a behind-the-scenes tour of the library on April 19 at 4 p.m. This 45-minute tour will begin in the lobby and continue throughout the library. Learn how materials get on the shelf. Meet in the lobby a few minutes before 4 p.m. to take the tour.
The Tween Lego Club will be meeting in the Tween Zone on April 17 at 4:30 p.m. and the Tween Book Chatter will be discussing BFG by Ronald Dahl on April 20 at 4:30 p.m. Tweens are ages 7 through 12.
Friends of the Library Association will be hosting the Books and Coffee Series on April 20 at the Craigmiles-Johnston House History Branch Library at 10 a.m. Lynn Dunlap will review “The List” by Martin Fletcher.
The Ebook Workshop on B&N’s Nook will be held April 21 from noon until 2 p.m. Call the nonfiction desk to register for the free workshop to teach you how to download free e-books from the library.
