Library Corner: Family night will be featured on Monday for game, videos

The Children’s Library has acquired four new Color Nooks available to use in the Children’s Room. The Nooks can be checked out at the desk with a parent’s driver’s license.

There are 62 easy and juvenile books loaded on these e-readers. Enjoy another way to read to your children or have them read to you.

Family game night will be held on Monday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Exciting board games and videos will be set up in the Community Room. This is fun for the whole family.

The Tween Art Zone will meet on Wednesday for ages 6 through 12. Discover arts through music, crafts, special guests and random acts of silliness.

The Classic Comedy Movie this month will be “Road to Morocco,” starring Bob Hope and Bing Crosby, on Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. Freshly popped popcorn is available at this free family event each month.

Teens will be gathering for an After Hours Teen Zone on Sept. 29 from 7 until 9 p.m.

The library is open just for ages 13 through 17 where teens have great fun talking books, gaming or watching movies.

Teens plan different events each month during the Teen Advisory Group meeting the first Monday of the month at 4:30 p.m.

Reservations are now being accepted for the Mark Gimenez Author Events on Oct. 16 and 18 at the Circulation Desk. The Fall Author Luncheon will be held at First Baptist Church on Oct. 16.

The cost for the luncheon is $35 and will include Merchants Alley and lunch catered by Impressions Catering. Mark Gimenezwill be featured as special guest author.

There will be an evening Meet the Author event to speak with Gimenez at a limited wine and heavy hors d’oeuvres party at 5:30 p.m., which includes a reserved seat at his evening book review and book signing at the Museum Center at Five Points.

Tickets are available for the evening Book Review which will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Adults are $10 and students with ID are $5. Gimenez’s books are for sale at the Circulation Desk.
