Library Corner: Tween activities for August to begin second Wednesday

The library’s summer reading programs are ending soon. Those who signed up for the “Groundbreaking Reads” adult program, be sure to turn in your reading log by Wednesday to be eligible for the drawing. Prizes include an e-book reader, Barnes & Noble gift certificate, gardening items and movie tickets. Winners will be announced on Thursday.

The children’s programs have completed their summer programs but things are gearing up for back-to-school activities. Children’s Story Time will continue on Tuesdays and Fridays at 10:30 a.m. for pre-schoolers age 3-5, and Baby Bookworms will be held on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. for those under 3.

Tween Activities will begin in August for those ages 6 through 12 unless otherwise indicated: Family Game Time – second Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.; Tween Movie Matinee – second Saturday at 11 a.m.; Tween Lego Club (ages 7–11) - third Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.; Tween Book Chatter – third Friday at 4:30 p.m.’ Pokemon Club (7-12) - third Saturday at 11 a.m.’ Scribblers Writing Club (9-14) - fourth Thursday at 4:30 p.m.; and Family Reading Night with United Way – fourth Monday at 6:30 p.m.

“Famous Sleuths at the Library” will be showing “Innocents Lost” on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Community Room. Robert Parker’s fictional character, Jesse Stone, is this month’s sleuth. Free popcorn will be served.
