The board meets the last Tuesday of every other month and is open to the public.
The Storytelling Guild will meet in the Cleveland Bradley Community Room Aug. 9 at 7 p.m. The public is invited to hear stories told by our areas most talented storytellers.
Books-a-Million will be giving the Cleveland Bradley County Public Library a percentage of sales made by patrons of the library on Aug. 20. Every person who makes a purchase at Books-a-Million and mentions our hometown community library will help the library receive a portion of their purchase.
This fundraiser will continue on the third Saturday of every month. So shop on the third Saturday of the month and help the library out as well.
The Friends of the Library Association will hosts its Book and Coffee Series on Aug. 19 at the Craigmiles-Johnston House History Branch Library at 10 a.m. Bonnie Tollefson, FOLA member, library volunteer and retired library director, will review “Three Cups of Tea” by Greg Mortenson.
Mortenson is a former mountain climber, best-selling author, humanitarian and philanthropist. His nonprofit organization, the Central Asia Institute, is dedicated to promoting education, especially for girls, in remote parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan. According to its website, he has established more than 140 schools there. “Three Cups of Tea” is a memoir of how he established the first schools in Afghanistan.
Come join FOLA at this book is reviewed. The reviews usually last one hour and it is not necessary to have read the book prior to the meeting. The story’s ending is never given away.
Many new Young Adult and Juvenile CD books have just been placed on the shelves. Come and check out the new selection.
