Library corner: Register for free computer classes to start on Monday

Did you get a new e-reader device for Christmas? If you are having problems downloading free e-books from the library, you can call and set up an appointment for a one-on-one meeting with a staff member who can help you set up your device and log onto the READS site. Join us Jan. 12 for our first “2nd Sunday at 2 p.m.” series in the Community Room when Kathryn Primm DVM, will talk about her new book, “Tennessee Tails: Pets and Their People.”

Dr. Primm owns Applebrook Animal Hospital in Ooltewah. Her book is a glimpse into the life of a charismatic and skilled veterinarian.

“America’s Veterinarian,” Dr. Marty Becker, said,”The heart of veterinary medicine beats inside thousands of vets who give their all for animals. Kathryn’s book shows why I’m so proud of my profession and proud she is my colleague. Animal lovers will love this book.”

The library will host a free introduction to couponing Saturday, Jan. 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Community Room. The session will begin with the basics, including when and where to shop, how to find and organize your coupons, and strategies for stockpiling to save up to 50 percent on your household expenses! Call the Non-Fiction desk to reserve a spot.

The following computer classes are now available for registration: Basic Computers, Jan. 6 and 7 from 3 to 5 p.m.; Beginning Email, Jan. 13 and 14 from 10 a.m. to noon; Excel, Jan. 27-30, from 3 to 5 p.m.; Beginning Internet, Jan. 8 and 9, from 3 to 5 p.m.; PowerPoint, Jan 20 and 21, from 10 a.m. to noon; Windows 8, Jan. 15 and 16, from 3 to 5 p.m.; and Word, Jan 22 and 23, from 3 to 5 p.m. All classes are free with a valid library card and are available on a first come basis. Classes are limited to 12 patrons per session.

The Children’s Library offers a Family Story Time every Saturday at 2 p.m. for the whole family with stories and a craft.

“Monsters University” will be the Tween Movie showing on Jan. 11 in the Community Room at 11 a.m.
