A group of seven residents and associates at Life Care Center of Cleveland showed plenty of courage, brains and heart at the facility’s Halloween party on Oct. 31.
The ensemble, decked out as characters from “The Wizard of Oz,” participated in the facility’s annual costume contest.
“I liked being Dorothy because the outfit was really cute and I felt pretty,” said resident Elizabeth Merkel. “I also loved carrying the little basket with Toto in it. I thought it completed my outfit.”
Resident Wanda Smith, who dressed up as the Scarecrow, added, “I enjoyed it all, and we had a great time! The food and the candy was good, and it was fun dressing up.”
Residents’ family members judged the associates’ costumes, choosing Israel Soto, certified nursing assistant, who dressed as the Tin Man, as the winner.
The local M&M Mars plant sent one of its M&M characters to interact with residents and associates as well.
Life Care Center of Cleveland, located at 3530 Keith St., N.W., is one of 26 skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities in Tennessee operated and managed by Life Care Centers of America.
