In December, the division bestowed honors on one skilled nursing and rehab facility per each of its five regions. The awards recognize facilities for innovative programs in serving their communities.
Life Care Center of Hickory Woods, located in Antioch, earned the overall, divisionwide Business Development Award.
The facility was nominated for its health fair, which took place May 21. Dozens of vendors provided health screenings, services and giveaways to community members.
Seniors and even younger community members had a chance to get free screenings for blood pressure, balance, bone density and carotid artery disease.
“One woman found out she had carotid artery disease, and she was weeping when she told us that we saved her life,” said Tami Gray, director of business development at the facility. “She wouldn’t have known otherwise.”
Booth costs were donated to Southern Joint Replacement Institute in Nashville for its Walk Strong Foundation, which provides needed joint replacement surgeries in underdeveloped areas of the world.
“With the health fair, we’re not just reaching our community but way beyond,” Gray added.
“The objective of these awards is to spur creative and strategic thinking by not only the business development departments, but the entire team at each of our facilities,” said Vicki Hood, Eastern Division director of admissions development.
Life Care Center of Hickory Woods is part of Life Care’s River Region.
