Lee University men’s basketball coach Tommy Brown is offering his Lee University Boys Basketball Academy this year on two separate weeks, for ages 5-16 on July 7-11 and July 21-25 from 9-4 p.m. (Fridays end at noon). The camp’s skilled staff includes former players, current players and coaches. Campers will be instructed in ball handling, shooting, dribbling, defense and rebounding. The 14th annual Camp of Champions for boys in grades 4-8 will be held July 14-17 at the Cleveland High School Football facilities from 9 a.m-noon. The cost is $60 per camper, and each participant will receive a free T-shirt and be eligible for awards. Campers will receive instruction from both CHS and CMS football coaching staffs as well as former Blue Raider players. Cleveland Country Club will host the final Bradley County Junior Golf Clinic for golfers ages 5-17 Monday. Clinics for ages 5-10 will go from 8-9:30 a.m. and clinics for ages 11-17 will go from 9:45-11:15 a.m. There will be a final tournament on July 7. Ladies and Jr. Girls City Tournament

The Ladies and Juniors City Golf Tournament first round will be played at Chatata Valley Golf Course on July 15 and the final round will be played at Cleveland Country Club on July 17th. Tee times will begin at 8 a.m. both days. Entry fee is $25 plus cart fee. Ladies must be a resident of Bradley County, property owner, or a member of any Bradley County Golf Club. Junior girls ages 14-18 will compete in a separate division. Exceptions for girls under age 14 may be made based on their level of skill. The deadline to enter is July 11. The Greater Cleveland Soccer Association is partnering with Challenger Sports to provide quality soccer camps for all ages this summer. Lee is offering two 1-day prospect camps July 9-10 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The camps may be attended separately or together. The camps are for 2014-2019 graduates as well as junior college students. Space is limited and early registration is highly recommended to ensure a spot. The morning session will feature skill instruction from college coaches and players as well as a combine style skills assessment. Tryouts for the 2014-15 Walker Valley Lady Mustangs softball team will be held July 14 and July 21 from 5-6:30 p.m. at Larry Haney Field on the campus of Walker Valley High School. Any young ladies interested in playing for Walker Valley need to be at one of these dates. Participants must bring proof of having passed a physical to participate. Cleveland Country Club summer will sponsor tennis clinics for juniors throughout the summer. High school and middle school clinics will meet on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8-9:30 a.m. Middle school clinics will go from 9:45-11:15 a.m. Beginners will meet on Wednesday and Friday mornings with ages 5-7 from 8:30-9:30 a.m.; ages 8-10 9:45-10:45 a.m.; and ages 11 and older 10:45-11:45 a.m. For more information, contact Tony Cavett at 902-5751.

Walker Valley will host its annual volleyball camp for students in third through eighth grades July 21-23. The camp will be held at Ocoee Middle School from noon-2 p.m. The cost for the camp is $30 and may be paid the first day of camp. For more information, contact Judy Pruett at 715-3483.


The Walker Valley High School Voleyball team is holding a pancake, bacon and eggs breakfast at Aubrey’s Restaurant July 12 from 8-9:30 a.m. Tickets are $5 each and may be purchased from a Walker Valley Volleyball player or at the door. The first Walker Valley Volleyball ‘Stang Stomp’ 5K Fun Run/Walk and Kids 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk will be held July 12. Registration at 6:30 am, 5K at 7:00 am and Kids at 7:30 am at the Cleveland/Bradley County Greenway at Tinsley Park pavilion near the playground. The cost for the 5K walk/run is $25 and includes breakfast and a T-shirt. The 1 mile fun/run is $10 and includes breakfast.
