Cleveland State Baseball program will offer a five-week fall instructional league for high school aged players beginning Aug. 13 and running through Sept. 16. Players will have the opportunity to further develop baseball skills through instruction and games. YMCA Youth Flag Football
The Cleveland Family YMCA is currently taking registration for its Fall Youth Flag Football League. The season will begin Sept. 1. Evaluations will be held on Aug. 11. Evaluations for K-second grade are 9-10:30 a.m. and third-fifth grade from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The cost is $40 for YMCA members and $60 for non-members. Volunteer Coaches Opportunity
The Cleveland Family YMCA is seeking individuals interested in volunteering in the Youth Flag Football program. Teams practice for one hour a week and games will be played on Saturdays. Coaches are required to complete a volunteer application and a background check. Interested volunteers may contact the YMCA Sports Department at 476-5573 for more information.
GOLF
GARY SMITH MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT
The Gary Smith Memorial Golf Tournament to benefit the Bradley Central boys and girls basketball programs, will be held Aug. 11 at the Chatata Valley Golf Club. The two-man select shot event will hold registration at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8:30. The $50 entry fee per player includes green and cart fees, as well as soft drinks and lunch,plus a diddy bag. The event will have two flights, determined by a nine-hole blind draw with prizes awarded to the top two teams in each, as well as longest drive, straightest drive and closest to the pin. CCC MEN’S INVITATIONAL
The eighth annual Cleveland Country Club Men’s Amateur Golf Championship will be held Aug. 11-12 at CCC. The tournament will consist of 144 paid entrants. The total entry fee is $135 and included two rounds of tournament golf, a practice round (entrant must pay cart fee), range balls, lunch on Saturday and Sunday and CCC invitational hat. AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Bradley County will hold a golf tournament at Chatata Valley Aug. 19. The shotgun start is at 1 p.m. Registration and lunch will begin at noon. The format is 2-person, select shot and the cost is $130 per team and included lunch snacks, green fees, golf cart and goody bag.
