The third annual Tryout Tune-Up for baseball players ages 5-15 will be held Jan. 26 from 2-5 p.m. The Tune-Up will focus on all basic baseball fundamentals. Each player will get work in hitting, throwing, infield play, outfield play, base running and pitching. The Tune-Up will be directed by former Lake Forest baseball coach Robbie Winters. Local coaches and players will run stations. Each three hour Sunday session will cost $25. For more information, contact coach Winters at 473-9645 to secure a spot in the camp.


The Walker Valley Winter Baseball Hitting and Pitching Camps will be held Jan. 26, plus Feb. 2 and 9. Each player will be videod and receive a T-shirt. The cost is $100 per camp or $150 for both. The 2013 USSSA state champion 8-under Smoke baseball team will be holding tryouts in the near future for athletes with a birthday after April 31, 2005 wanting to play at the next level. For more information, call David Spradling at (423)829-5166 by Feb.7 to sign up for this tryout.



The Bradley/Cleveland Softball Umpire Association is recruiting umpires and scorekeepers for the upcoming 2014 season. The association will be holding preseason meetings at the Cleveland Community Center on South Church Street on the following schedule: Feb 13 (6 p.m.), Feb 23 (2 p.m.), March 6 (6 p.m.), March 16 (2 p.m.) and March 30 (2 p.m.).
