Benton — First Volunteer Bank is pleased to announce that Gordon M. Locklear has joined the bank as vice president and market leader for the Benton branch.

“I am excited to make this announcement,” stated Joe Waters, executive vice president of retail banking for First Volunteer.

“Matt brings more than nine years of banking experience to his new role. Our customers in the Benton area will benefit from his knowledge and high level of customer service,” he added.

Locklear most recently served as assistant vice president and manager of two regional bank offices in Cleveland.

He is active in the community, being currently involved in the Kiwanis Club of Cleveland, and has served in various capacities for other organizations including CASA and United Way.

“I’m excited to join First Volunteer and I love community banking. Each day I get to help customers realize their dream of owning their own business or buying their dream home. I get to help with all aspects of their financial needs,” Locklear added.

Locklear is a 2004 graduate of Tennessee Temple University and holds a bachelor of science degree in psychology.

When he’s not helping his customers with their banking needs, Locklear enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, attending and supporting high school and college athletic events. He and his family reside in Cleveland.

Locklear is assuming the role held by Mike Whitmire, a longtime First Volunteer banker, who will be retiring.

First Volunteer Bank is an $859 million financial institution with 24 branch offices throughout Eastern/Middle Tennessee and Northwest Georgia. First Volunteer operates three branch offices in the Polk/McMinn County areas — Benton, Ocoee and Etowah.
