She was a member of McDonald United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Newman; and father, Homer Garner.
She is survived by her mother, Monettie Garner of McDonald; two sisters: Lois Ann Myers and Norma Faye Kelly; two brothers: James Berlin Garner, all of McDonald, and Homer David Garner of Etowah; and many special nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. today, Nov. 13, 2012, at Grissom Funeral Home with Pastor Janet Geitner officiating.
Interment will follow in Lee Cemetery.
