Brookes Edge Apartments is a project of Shumate Development Corporation of Westerville, Ohio.
Plans submitted to the city show 324 one- and two-bedroom apartments in nine buildings placed on a 28-acre hillside fronting Adkisson Drive.
Each of the nine three-story buildings will contain 36 apartments. It will be constructed in two phases over two years. The first phase includes 180 units, plus a clubhouse and pool. City permits place the construction value at $7.09 million.
Company President John Shumate said, “We selected this premier location due to the fast growth Bradley County and Cleveland are experiencing. Cleveland is a very unique city that’s on the move. It’s a great community with great people. We are looking forward to serving the people of Cleveland and the surrounding communities with brand-new quality apartment homes.”
According to information furnished by the developer, the community will have a professionally designed and furnished clubhouse/leasing center with a grand, open lobby, porcelain tile flooring, large entertaining area, theater room, fitness center and large exterior wood deck.
A swimming pool also will have a large deck and decorative wood trellises.
Some exterior design features include large balconies and patios, brick accents, hardie-board siding with a wood grain appearance, dimensional shingles and landscaped grounds.
Brookes Edge will offer four designs with 9-foot ceilings; wood maple cabinetry; appliances including a refrigerator, range, microwave, dishwasher and large capacity washer and dryer; kitchen tile backsplash; and a large Roman soaker bathtub.
“The bedrooms are very spacious with plenty of room for a sitting area or desk,” Shumate said. “There is a soaker tub in every bathroom.”
Brookes Edge is the second large-scale luxury apartment complex in the city.
TDK Construction of Murfreesboro announced a two-phase plan to build The Retreat at Spring Creek in November 2009.
The first phase included 199 units. The second phase of 112 apartments is under construction on the east end of 25th Street.
Shumate did not disclose any rental information.
