Features of the hardscape, including the sunken rock patio and the two koi fish ponds, were built by the Cardins and add interest to the landscaping.
Mrs. Cardin, a Magnolia Garden Club member, with the help of her husband talked about planting and maintaining their shade plants.
The club members were served dinner with the fruit pizza pie being a favorite. After dinner, Mr. Cardin talked with the group about his wine-making hobby and showed them some of the different kinds of wine he has made.
The business meeting was conducted by Fredricka Lawson and Linda Cross gave the devotion. Sue Taylor gave the treasurer’s report, informing members $75 was sent to Racheff House and Garden in memory of Sale Bowen.
Copies of the 2015 Vision of Beauty calendars have been ordered from national Garden Club Inc. Members learned that Taylor’s yard will be in the calendar this coming year. She will be the only garden club member from Tennessee to be included in the 2015 calendar.
Members talked about designs, horticulture entries and committee assignments for the upcoming flower show to be held in Dayton on July 11, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the New Union Baptist Church. The public is invited to attend the show with no admission charge.
