According to a report filed by deputy Paul Singleton of the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, he exited his vehicle and was speaking to two individuals who were at the residence to pick someone up from a party.
While Singleton was speaking with the people, he heard a gunshot, then observed Jeffery Neller, 39, exit the house. Neller had a small handgun in his hand. Singleton gave verbal commands for Neller to drop the weapon. Neller dropped the weapon after moving into the yard.
According to Bob Gault, media coordinator for the Sheriff’s Office, Singleton’s report noted Parson allegedly became verbal, went to a room and retrieved the handgun and was then confronted by Neller, who was attempting to take the gun away from Parsons when he was shot and struck in the hand.
Bradley County Emergency Medical Service responded and took Neller to a local hospital for treatment, reports indicated.
