She was the daughter of the late Maude Maples Hooker and Alvin Hooker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie A. Pullen; brothers, Raymond Hooker and Millard Hooker, and her sister, Wilma Hooker Blackburn.
She was a 1938 graduate of Bradley County High School. She was also a graduate of the National School of Business and worked for a number of years at Lay’s Department Store Offices in Cleveland. In Ashland City she worked at the U.T. Agricultural Extension Service and Saunders Truck Leasing. She served as bookkeeper for both organizations.
She was an accomplished church musician, serving as both pianist and organist at several Baptist Churches as well as gospel quartets. She was a member of the Ashland City First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons: Charles R. Pullen and Robert A. Pullen; grandchildren: Leslie Nichole Pullen Hardy and her husband, Greg, Robert Derick Pullen and his wife, Danielle; great-grandson, Jett Hardy; sister, Lela Ruth Hooker Parker; and brothers, David Hooker and Virgil Hooker; and several nieces and nephews.
The Remembrance of Life service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, from the North Ocoee Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Pastor Sammy Hooker officiating.
Interment will follow in the Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the American Heart Association.
The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 Wednesday at the North Ocoee Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes who has charge of the arrangements.
