Marie McGuire Hutsell, 86, of Decatur, died Sunday, March 20, 2011, at her residence.
She was a native of McMinn County and former resident of Maryland for 35 years.
She was the daughter of the late John and Annie Morrow McGuire. She was also preceded in death by one son, James Greg Hutsell; grandson, Randy J. Perry; sisters: Beulah Weir and Mary Ellen Roberts; and brothers: J.L. McGuire and Cecil McGuire.
She was of the Baptist faith and attended First Baptist Church of Riceville.
She operated The Tea Room in New Market, Md., for several years.
She is survived by her husband, James E. Hutsell of Decatur; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jonathan Whittaker of Shaker Heights, Ohio; granddaughter, Jenny Freeman; grandsons: Greg Hutsell and Jeff Hutsell; six great-grandchildren: Mathew Perry, Mikayla Perry, Savannah Hutsell, Sarah Hutsell, Sammy Freeman and C.J. Freeman; sisters: Myrtle Womac of Riceville, Ruby Maples of Atlanta, Catherine Dilbeck , Betty Wilson and Wilma Cunningham, all of Cleveland; and brother, Leonard McGuire of Cleveland.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2011, in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home in Athens with the Rev. Ray Fowler officiating.
Interment will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Whittaker, Dub Spurlin, Greg Hutsell, Jeff Hutsell, Mat Perry, and Dennis Shell.
