Marshall V. Millsaps Sr., 80, a lifelong resident of the Birchwood community, passed away Thursday night, May 8, 2014, in a local hospital.
He was born in Cleveland on Aug. 19, 1933, a son of the late Marshall Chester and Nancy Elizabeth Millsaps.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He worked for many years with the White Oak Forestry Division and also was a deputy with the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office.
He loved to fish and hunt, but above all was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty June Millsaps; and four sisters: Irene Freeman, Annie Lee Cane, Lula Garner and Littie Kendrick.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Betty Evelyn Mathews Millsaps; two sons: Jerry Millsaps and his wife, Kim, of Decatur, and Verlon Millsaps and his companion, Holly Woodall; one daughter, Donna Allison and her husband, Steve, of Birchwood; one sister, Nettie Garner of McDonald; two grandchildren: April Allison (Nathan Nichols) and Brandon Allison; one great-grandson, Dokota Curtis; three great-granddaughters: Haley, Gracie and Chloe; another grandson soon to be born, Memphis Marshall Raines Nichols; special nephew, Jerry Cane; and numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.
A graveside service is planned for Monday, May 12, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the McInturf Cemetery in Birchwood with the family serving as pallbearers.
