She was born on July 11, 1936, a daughter of the late Claude and Lennie Patton Travis.
She was also a lifelong member of the New Bethel United Methodist Church in Dayton. She was retired from Rhea Medical Center with more than 30 years of service. After retiring, she worked as a caregiver to many in her community.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Max Richardson; two sons: Jimmy Max Richardson and Tracy Richardson; two infant daughters; and one brother, Fenton Travis.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Michael Gentry; three grandchildren: Ryan (Amanda) Gentry of Soddy Daisy, Ashley Gentry of Dayton and Lora (Michael) Hailey of Hixson; two great-grandchildren: Ben and Alex Gentry, both of Soddy Daisy; two sisters: Alice Travis of Dayton and Betty (Bill) Bradford of Graysville; two brothers: Claude “Rabbit” (Opal) Travis and Tom Travis of Dayton; one sister-in-law, Jessie Travis; numerous other extended family members; and a host of special friends.
A celebration of her life is planned for Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at 6 p.m. at the New Bethel United Methodist Church in Dayton.
The family will receive friends at the church from 4 p.m. until the 6 p.m. service time.
