Mary Joyce Albritton Strickland, 71, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at the family residence.

She was the daughter of the late Luther F. and Charlcie Hicks Albritton. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, James Rockland “J.R.” Strickland; her sisters: Adessa Theodocia Graig, Mamie Sue Beshears, Angie Dean Green; and one brother, Eldon John Albritton.

She was a health care professional retiring from Bradley Memorial hospital with more than 32 years of service. She was a member of the Samples Memorial Baptist Church. “She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and sister.”

She is survived by her daughter, Sonya Rymer and her husband, Gary, of Cleveland; sons: Eldon Shane Strickland of Cleveland and Jimmy Strickland and his wife, Chanda, of Chattanooga; grandchildren: James R. “Jimmy” Strickland and Michael J. “Mikey” Strickland, both of Cleveland, Dana R. Rymer, Emily Varnell, both of Cleveland, Meredith Orr of Maryville; three great-grandchildren: sisters: Veta Harris, Star Burnette and Brenda Rymer and her husband, Mickey, all of Cleveland; her best friend, “Stubby”; and several nieces and nephews.

A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Samples Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Cameron, and the Revs. Lee Ingram and A.M. Rymer officiating.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Jimmy and Mikey Strickland, Anthony, Jonathan and Jeremy Cartwright, and Sam White serving as casket bearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Chandler, Gary Greene, Curtis Freeman and Jonathan Strickland.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 this evening at the North Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes.

The family requests that donations be made to Amedysis Hospice, 2253 Chambliss Ave., Cleveland, TN 37311.

The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
