Students are elected to Cum Laude based on exceptional academic achievement alone, as measured by cumulative GPA. Only a student’s work at McCallie is considered, and a student must have been at McCallie for at least one full year.
McCallie has sponsored a Cum Laude Chapter since 1952, and it is the oldest of its kind in Tennessee.
Longtime Upper School English teacher Kemmer Anderson, the school’s poet laureate, spoke to the assembly about the importance of searching for truth in life. Following the talk, associate director of college guidance Jeff Kurtzman read aloud the names of the 30 inductees.
