Mitchell Keith Shoemaker, 64, of Calhoun, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012. He was a member of Calhoun First Baptist Church. He was the president of his junior and senior class at Calhoun High School and was an accomplished basketball and baseball player. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his fathers, Ellis Ray Shoemaker, Jr., and Walter Green.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Lynn Cope Shoemaker, of Calhoun; mother, Helen Bolen Green of Calhoun; two children: Brian Keith Shoemaker and Mitchell Todd Shoemaker, all of Cleveland; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. today, Dec. 3, 2012, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Cheathem officiating. Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.

His family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home prior to the service.
