Joining Elder B.J. Larson is Elder Kolton Brown and Sisters Lynsie Clark and Madison Whitehead.
Larson has been in the community for approximately five months. While noting he has enjoyed working with the people in Cleveland, he said he has also grown as a Christian.
“The experience has humbled me a lot,” he said “I can see other perspectives.”
A Pleasant Grove, Utah, resident, Brown plans to study medicine after completing his missionary work.
Brown has been in Cleveland about two months. He noted the “people are amazing — so nice and easy to talk to.”
He noted the missionary experience has helped him see how “important the Gospel is in my life.”
He has also learned how to be more independent and how to work with companions.
Clark, from Spring City, Utah, has been in the community about three weeks.
She said she has found it is possible to love people you don’t really know.
She said her training in preparation for the mission has helped her learn more about the Bible. “It has been a blessing,” Clark said.
Whitehead is nearing the end of her mission journey. She has been a missionary for 15 months. She started in Rogersville, then Knoxville and is now in Cleveland.
She had completed one semester of a general college major before starting her mission.
Whitehead noted the mission training helped her adjust to the adoption of a “lifestyle. It is one totally focused on sharing the Gospel and thinking outside yourself.”
The experience has left her “much more committed to Christ. ... I have learned to really care about people.
“Serving the Lord full time will bring you closer to Christ than anything else you can do,” she said.
The missionaries are available to talk with anyone wanting to know more about their message. The elders can be reached at 423-994-1734 and the sisters at 423-503-6394.
