Motel room vandalized, one person charged

Approximately $600 in damage was done to a motel room after an alleged fight took place inside it.

According to a report filed by deputy Steve McCullough of the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, Chelsey Smith, 25, was charged with vandalism, public intoxication, possession of Schedule II drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McCullough’s report indicated he responded to Applegate Inn located on APD 40. He observed a male and Smith inside the room.

The room looked as if a fight had taken place, reports said.

Damage was done to an air-conditioning unit, a microwave/refrigerator combination and a wall.

Smith’s hand had evidence of injury. The male party stated he had left the room and when he returned he noticed the damage.

According to the report, Smith admitted to breaking the microwave and causing damage.

She was arrested and taken to the Bradley County Jail where she was booked on the charges.

- A Husquvarna weed cutter was taken from a man’s yard last week.

According to a report filed by deputy Doug Boucher, Albert Ellis said he had left the string trimmer in his yard located on Peach Orchard Hill Road Thursday. Ellis noticed it missing Friday afternoon. The trimmer was valued at $300.

- Damage to a storage building at Santek Environmental was reported to local authorities.

Cheryl Blackwell said only $4 in cash was taken from the building; however, damage to the structure during the burglary was assessed at $100.

According to a report filed by deputy Kevin Chastain of the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, someone had forced their way into the building during the weekend.

The door of the outbuilding showed evidence of damage.

Investigation is continuing.
