“This past year has been an exciting one for the talented teenagers,” said Will Nichols, producer of the free weekly musical show. “In addition to being named ‘Best Bluegrass Band’ the second year in a row by TheChattanoogan.com, Mountain Cove landed an upcoming national TV appearance on the Shotgun Red Variety Show produced by RFDTV.”
Banjo player Cody Harvey started Mountain Cove Bluegrass in 2008 during lunch breaks at Signal Mountain Middle High School. Soon Harvey, Austin Adkins, Mike Holloway, Colin Mabry, Tyler Martelli and Wil Markham were jamming together whenever possible at Walden Ridge’s famed Mountain Opry. They quickly gained audience approval and local media attention.
“Both of Mountain Cove’s CDs, ‘New Generation,’ and ‘Back ‘ have sold out and are now in their second printings,” added Nichols. “Plus, they had a cut included on the ‘Scenic City Sampler’ CD that spotlights some of the best area performers.”
The Cowboy Gospel Jubilee is held at the Cleveland Cowboy Church in the Dockery Heights community, between Blue Springs and Blackburn Roads. It features both gospel and moral secular music performed in a variety of genres.
“It’s going to be a great show and everyone is invited,” said Nichols. “We’re also excited about a special return appearance by singer-songwriter Danny O’Boyle this week.”
Also appearing on the Cowboy Jubilee stage will be Southern gospel singer Amy McAlister and singer-songwriter Elmer Bramlett, as well as the Cowboy Church Band and Chorale. Nichols is host and announcer.
