The Museum Center at Five Points announces a new event to their 2010 fall lineup, Holidays at Five Points — Silent Auction.

This community-wide holiday event will be held on Nov. 27 from 7 until 10 p.m. and will feature a silent auction and heavy hors d’oeuvres. The cost to attend is $25 per person and tickets can be purchased at the Museum Center.

All money raised from Holidays at Five Points will benefit the Museum Center at Five Points exhibitions and education programs.

Commitments for donations of silent auction items for this event are now being taken. “We are looking for creative individuals and businesses to commit to donating Christmas items such as decorated wreaths, floral arrangements, Christmas trees and so forth,” said Ken Cagle, operations manager at the Museum Center. “Holidays at Five Points will be a kick-off to the annual Christmas season and we hope to make this an annual event.”

In particular, the museum is looking for donations of decorated 4-foot Christmas trees, holiday centerpieces, wreaths, vintage Christmas ornaments, gift baskets and holiday decorative items. If you are interested in donating an item, contact Cagle at the Museum Center at 339-5745.

To add more excitement to this event, there will be awards presented to the best decorated Christmas trees: Best in Show, Holidays at Five Points Favorite and Most Creative. The items awarded these top spots will be featured in the Museum Center newsletter and in the local media.

“This event will be a way to add something new to your holiday collection of decorations and get fabulous new ideas for sprucing up your home for the Christmas season.” said Lisa Lutts, Museum Center executive director.

To purchase tickets for Holidays at Five Points, call the museum at 339-5745 or come by the museum during open hours, Tuesday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
