The Museum Center at Five Points is inviting the public to an Independence Day family celebration for the second year in a row, called “Red White and Blues.”

The Cleveland Community Stage Band will perform Tuesday and be accompanied by grilled burgers, chips, soft drinks and all the fixings.

The museum will open at 7 p.m. to the sounds of Big Band music of the 1940s, classic rock from the 1950s to the 1970s, dance, funk and modern jazz.

Directed by Don Bindrim, the Cleveland Community Stage Band is the joint effort of up to 25 community musicians who volunteer their time to share their love of music and entertaining with audiences.

They range in age from 15 to 85 (and lots in between) and among them are teachers and engineers, retired military and students.

“Last year’s event was a sellout and a wonderful time for everyone who attended — so we knew we had to have an encore,” said museum staffer Tracy O’Connell.

Tickets are $5 and may be purchased ahead of time at the Museum Center, Tooter’s Music Store on Inman Street, or at the door. For more information, call the Museum Center at Five Points at 339-5745.

The Museum Center is open Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The museum is closed Sunday, Monday and holidays.

Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and students, and free for children under 5. Groups of 12 or more are $4 each.

The museum is free the first Saturday of every month. Members of the Museum Center receive free admission.
