The Mustangs carded an 8-over-par 152 team tally to defeat Ooltewah with a 159 and Polk County, which came in at 197.
The Lady Mustangs did the same with an impressive 5-over 77 team score, while the Lady Wildcats shot 99; the Lady Owls had just one player.
Walker Valley will return to the links this afternoon as all three county teams gather at Cleveland Country Club at 4 p.m. The “Northsiders” swept last week’s county three-way match at Chatata Valley.
Coach Bob Williams’ Mustangs posted four scores in the 30s over nine holes Monday with senior Garrett Cantrell leading the charge with an even-par 36.
Sophomore Dylan Lillard helped out with a 2-over 38, while classmate Corey Rollins and junior Kyle Limburg were just a stroke back at 39.
Despite the soggy conditions, Ooltewah’s Danny Gleason captured low-medalist honors with a 2-under 34, but the rest of the Owl scores were in the 40s — Parker Sammons (40), Logan Gryder (42) and Wes Baughn (43).
Michael Rongey topped the Polk County effort with a 40, while Ryan Droke (49), Tyler Brown (53) and Will Richmond (55) rounded out the Wildcat tally.
In girls’ action, Walker Valley senior Katie Bishop took low-medalist honors with a 1-over 37, while sophomore Katie Medley capped the victory with a 40.
Ooltewah’s Samantha Griffith shot a 3-over 39, but had no teammate to compete with.
Heather Ellis and Lauren Passmore scored a 49 and 50 respectively for the Lady Wildcats.
Polk County will entertain McMinn Central in a District 5 A-AA match Wednesday at Chatata Valley.
