North Cleveland Church of God will celebrate Mitch and Sharon Maloney’s 20 years of ministry at the church today.

This is a rare benchmark for ministers in a time when the average U.S. pastoral tenure is a little more than three years, according to Associate Pastor Dr. Hubert Seals.

The recognition of the Maloneys will take place in the 10:45 a.m. service.

“He is a man of integrity, a man of character,” Seals said. “I always say for me as a staff member, it is easy for me to follow a man I know follows God.”

Seals said he hopes the service will serve as a time for the church and others in the Cleveland/Bradley County community who have been impacted by the senior pastor’s ministry to show their appreciation.

During the recognition, a proclamation from the governor will be presented honoring the Maloneys for their ministry.

Both local mayors plan to be present for the event. Church of God General Overseer Mark Williams will be speaking in the service.

Preparations for the event began in December as a way to mark this anniversary.

Mitch Maloney served at North Cleveland Church of God in other roles before moving to Michigan to pastor a church there. He returned in 1993.

During his time as senior pastor, Maloney has led the church in building a new sanctuary and the International Prayer Tower, partnering with New Hope Pregnancy Center and launching several other ministries.

Seals emphasized the pastor has served the community through these ministries.

“He is very transparent and enjoys real life with members of the congregation, yet he has the mind and heart of a visionary leader.”

During his time at North Cleveland, the senior pastor has preached 2,416 sermons and 5,765 people have come to faith in Jesus Christ as Savior.

He also serves on the Tennessee Church of God State Council and the International Executive Council.

According to the church website, “He has had more than 15 years of consistent radio broadcasting and television programming, and currently hosts a weekly television broadcast, ‘River of Anointing.’”
