Nellie “Granny Nell” Stevison, 78, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday March 24, 2013, in a local hospital.

She was the daughter of the late Raught and Emma Mae Taylor. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William “Bill” Cunningham; her second husband, Mack Stevison; an infant daughter, Zelma Lee Cunningham; and a brother, Otis Taylor.

She was retired from Hardee’s Restaurants where she served as manager of the Blue Springs Road store and also worked at the Spring Place Road store.

During this time she served as crossing guard for Blythe Avenue School at Chippewah Avenue. At one point she was deli/bakery manager for the Cooke’s Food Store on Spring Place and was a dedicated church member at Victory Faith Church. She was loved by everyone.

Left to cherish her memories are her children: Berniece Rymer and her husband, Jim, “Rooster” of Decatur, Susie Farris and her husband, Gary, of Cleveland, Deborah Callahan and her husband, Tim, of Decatur, Eddie Cunningham and his wife, Tammy, of Cleveland, Kenneth Cunningham and his wife, Joan, of Fort Myers Fla., Clayton Cunningham and his wife, Margaret, of Cleveland; stepchildren: Terry, Ronald and Mack Stevison, Sharon Nelson and Tammy Wilson; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; sisters: Geneva Morrow, Pearl Morrow and Brenda Collins, all of Cleveland: brothers: Jim Taylor, Robert Taylor, Chuck Taylor and Jack Taylor, all of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013, at the Wildwood Ave Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Pastor Gary Farris officiating.

Interment will follow in the Hilcrest Cemetery with Michael, Derek and Brian Cunningham, Sean and Cody Callahan, Dustin Higdon, Tyler Myers, River Long and Tony McNabb serving as casket bearers.

The family will receive friends today, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
