The sixth-grade Ocoee Middle School Colts basketball team improved to 5-0 on the season with a 38-16 victory at Lake Forest.

The home team held the high-flying Colts down with a great first half defense to the tune of 15-12.

The second half was a different story, as the awakened Colts outscored the Bruins 23-4.

Ocoee’s pressing defense finally took its toll in the end with many late steals and turnovers.

Tyler Ferguson led the young Colts with 10 points, eight rebounds and four steals. He was followed closely by Freddy Johnson with six points, and Jordan Munck and Kinsey Swallows with five points apiece. Patton Ford added four second-half points.

The schedule for Ocoee remains brisk with three more games this week — against Athens, Copper Basin and culminating with a showdown versus Cleveland Middle on Saturday.
