The skies were blue and clear on the morning of Friday, March 14, as students from the Walker Valley High School ‘Exploring Technology’ class and the ‘Future Teachers of America’ club came to North Lee Elementary to teach fifth-grade students about the wonders of rockets.
Students reviewed the Newtonian Laws of physics that are involved in rocketry, and then engaged a mathematical algorithm that would calculate the possible height their rocket would reach.
The fifth-grade students then were given the supplies to create their own rocket. After lunch, they were able to launch their rockets on the upper playground of North Lee. This is an annual event that brings together fifth-grade students with their 11th-grade counterparts to accomplish a shared goal.
A great time was had by all.
