He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Birchfield E. Hawkins Cruden; father, Earl Webster Hawkins; stepfather, Robert B. Cruden; sister, Ruth E. Stroup; and brother, Ray F. Hawkins.
He was retired from the Tennessee Forest Service after 26 years.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of Thompson Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Wilma J. Hawkins, of Cleveland; sister, Arnetta Willis of Cleveland; brother, Ralph W. Hawkins of Colorado; mother-in-law, Grace Sampson; and several nieces and nephews and their children.
A private interment will be held in the Veterans Section of Fort Hill Cemetery at a later date.
